Selborne Primary School
Hampshire
This school had for many years been deficient in accommodation, but has now been completely transformed.
The project included a major wing of two classrooms, hall and kitchen, restricted by a tight sloping site and major trees on the boundary. This wing, whilst significantly bigger has been carefully proportioned to sit harmoniously alongside the original more diminutive school.
A substitute stone was found to match the local stone, no longer quarried, and the roof is of natural slate. The existing building has also been extended and completely remodelled to accommodate ICT, library, new entrance and bigger reception classroom.
