The design of this modest, yet extremely important extension to a community library utilises a contemporary simplicity to complement the existing timber framed building.

The new extension is fundamentally a simple timber box, with natural light brought from above and controlled internally to avoid glare and reflection on computer screens.

The simplicity of the form is matched by the elegance of the detail to create a delightful minimalist composition where the soft tones of timber and sharp lines of the steel unite.
