Hostel for the Homeless

This project is the redevelopment of an existing site of hostel accommodation for the homeless, and will comprise 29 self contained units ranging from studio to 2 bedroom flats.

The new development for Hampshire Voluntary Housing Association will be a contemporary design consisting of blocks of accommodation in a predominantly linear arrangement along the Western boundary which will maximise the open space on site. The mass of building is visually broken down into components using rendered wall projections. The mono pitch roofs are used to give variety to the roofscape and the low pitch reduces the overall height. The main building structure is predominantly red brick which visually is the back cloth and reference to materials of the locality.
